Sheffield Steeldogs academy stars Cole Shudra and George Crawshaw made their senior team debuts at the weekend when they competed against Solway Sharks on Saturday evening followed by Swindon Wildcats on Sunday.

The Bradfield Brewery Sheffield Steeldogs racked up another double winning weekend with wins in Dumfries against the Solway Sharks on Saturday before returning to ICE Sheffield for a Sunday clash with the Swindon Wildcats. It was the Sheffield Steeldogs academy starlets that made the headlines though with Cole Shudra making his first team debut, who has been playing regularly for the 16s, managing to get on the scoresheet capping a dream debut.

Both players are part of the Sheffield Steeldogs academy where they are coached by Andre Payette whilst working towards a BTEC qualification. The academy youngsters get the opportunity to train on a regularly basis at ICE Sheffield and also obtain free gym membership at EIS Sheffield to help with their training needs.

Andre Payette the academy coach said that “Cole was fantastic and it was great to see two young guys from the academy playing with the first team, there will definitely be more opportunities as the season goes on for the academy guys to progress into the first team”
