Jeff Legue drops by on Steeldogs Academy

Summer marquee signing for the Sheffield Steeldogs senior team Jeff Legue recently coached the Sheffield Steeldogs academy youngsters at ICE Sheffield. He was joined on the ice by academy coach Andre Payette to help develop the academy player’s skills.

The steeldogs academy was established in 2012 and is the UKs most unique ice hockey education programme, with learners travelling from as far as Scotland to take part in this scheme.

Overseeing the education programme, Michael Blythe course leader explained the importance of such an academy based in Sheffield. “The academy gives the students a fantastic experience in terms of gaining a BTEC qualification as well as the opportunity to train on the Ice in one of the top sporting venues in the UK. The added bonus is the students receive Ice Hockey coaching from Andre Payette who has played Hockey for a variety of teams in the NHL and he is also a fan favourite with the Steeldogs”
